What is the date and time of the American Muslim Inaugural Gala?
The Inaugural Gala will be held on Monday, January 21, 2013. Doors will open at 7:00 p.m. for the general reception.

Where will the American Muslim Inaugural Gala be hosted?
The Inaugural Gala will be held at Historic Eastern Market's North Hall on Capital Hill in Washington, DC. Eastern Market is located at 225 7th Street SE, Washington, DC 20003.

What do I wear to the American Muslim Inaugural Gala?
Dress for the event is black-tie.

How do I purchase tickets to the American Muslim Inaugural Gala?
Tickets for the Gala start at $65 each and are non-refundable. Tickets are now available for the 2013 Muslim Inaugural Ball!

Who are the benefiting charities for the American Muslim Inaugural Gala?
The proceeds will go towards the Interfaith Youth Initiative, the Interfaith Youth for Climate Justice, Masjid Muhammad, Genius Corps, and Muslimat Al Nisaa Interfaith charities.

What mode of transportation should I use to get to the American Muslim Inaugural Gala?
Metro access is available one block from our venue at the Eastern Market Metro station, which services the orange, and blue lines.

Eastern market is in close proximity to the Mall and U.S. Capitol Building.  Visitors arriving by car will have access to the free parking lot located on 7th Street, just across from Eastern Market. Additional street parking is located on surrounding streets. Both are subject to availability.

Officials are expecting large crowds in Washington, DC for the 2013 Inauguration and getting around the region throughout the three-day weekend will be challenging. Parking is limited in the city, so the best way to get to the inaugural events will be by public transportation. Everyone will need a lot of patience and should be prepared to wait in long lines. You should purchase your Metro fare in advance to save time. Be sure to have enough fare value on your SmarTrip card or farecard to make a round trip. May I bring a guest to the American Muslim Inaugural Gala?
Each ticket to the Inaugural Ball is for one person and is non-refundable. Guests are welcome, but we request that each guest purchase a ticket.

Will dinner be served at the American Muslim Inaugural Gala?
The Gala will feature multiple buffet stations inspired by different cultures.

Will there be live entertainment at the Gala?
The Gala will include a vibrant entertainment program. Our dynamic co-hosts are Preacher Moss, Comedian of acclaimed Allah Made Me Funny World Tour and Hujrah Wahaj , Radio Host of her own show entitled ‘The Hujrah Wahhaj Experience’. Musical guests include Wali Ali, Master Guitarist, The Reminders, African Drummers, Michelle Barzinji (Strucke) and many more.


Where should I stay while I am in DC? Do you recommend a hotel?
A limited number of rooms are available at hotels in the area that are offering special rates for the inauguration. Each offer is subject to availability and minimum stays as defined by each hotel. Please contact each hotel directly for more information.

Are other Inaugural Events being hosted by Muslims?

The Muslim Inaugural Gala on Monday January 21st, represents a collaborative effort and the Grand Finale of a full weekend of inaugural celebrations stemming from the American Muslim community, including another gala on Sunday and the National Day of Service on Saturday with the Presidential Inaugural Committee (PIC). 

FOOD DRIVE

From now until Thursday January 17, join faith communities across DC in collecting food for those in need. Masjid Muhammad will serve as a drop off location for non-perishable items. On Friday January 18, we will be delivering food to Trinity Washington University. On Saturday January 19, the National Day of Service we will need volunteers to help package the food and then distribute to food pantries across DC.
