Honorary Co-Chairs for the Muslim Inaugural Gala 2013 will include:
• BILLIONAIRE Businessman Michael V. Roberts -Selected by President Obama
and the Secretary of Commerce
as a member of the Inaugural National
Council for Innovation and Leadership.
• Congressman André Carson, the U.S. Representative for Indiana's 7th congressional district.
•
Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton , now in her twelfth term as the
Congresswoman
for the District of Columbia, is the ranking member of the
House Subcommittee on Economic Development,
Public Buildings, and
Emergency Management.
• Reverend Eugene F. Rivers III , an adviser
to both Bush Administrations and the Clinton Administration
on their
faith-based initiatives and in the foreign policy arena regarding the
AIDS crisis in Africa
• Imam Suhaib Webb, contemporary
American-Muslim educator, activist, and lecturer.
He is currently the
imam of the largest mosque in the New England area.

• Imam Johari Abdul-Malik, Director of Community Outreach for the Dar Al-Hijrah Islamic Center.

Announcing Our Honored Award Recipients! Muslim Inaugural Gala, January 21, 2013
“Four Eagles Award” recipients include:
The International Museum of Muslim Cultures (Jackson, MS).
The museum will feature a special selection from its exhibit: “The
Legacy of Timbuktu”. The exhibit has been funded by the National
Endowment for the Arts, and has never before been seen in the Nation's
Capitol.
Other award recipients include multicultural and interfaith leaders
that have set a standard for balance, excellence and equity on the world stage including:
Alrick Brown, Director of the Film KinyaRwanda, winner of the audience choice award at Sundance;
Kiara Muhammad, Actress, Voice of Disney’s #1 hit series Doc McStuffins,
The Interfaith Conference of Metropolitan Washington, received by Rev. Clark Lobenstine, Washington, DC;
Dr. Sulayman Nyang, Howard University, Historian, Scholar, Washington, DC; and;
Muslim American Veterans Association, MAVA, Washington, DC.

Judge Hassan El-Amin, the first Muslim appointed to Maryland's Highest Court, and Sr. Bahijah Abdus Salaam
will serve as our Honorary Award Conveners.
Judge El-Amin is now one of seven Circuit Court judges in Maryland; he will serve in Prince George's County,
having served as a District Court judge in the county since July 25, 2000.
